Should I list my home during the holidays?

Traditionally the holiday times are a little slower with the hustle and bustle of getting ready for and then enjoying the season. However, this can be an excellent time to sell your home. First of all, your home is decorated for the holiday season and generally looks better now than any other time of the year. Secondly, buyers coming through your home are better buyers, because if they are looking at this time of the year, they are serious about moving. Thirdly, because many potential sellers wait until spring to list their home, inventory of homes on the market is low, and there is a greater chance of selling your property before many more homes enter the competition. Needless to say, you must still be priced appropriately for the market because if it is listed too high, the home will not sell and you will be faced with more competition in the spring market. You also have to assess how quickly you need to move, and what impact it will have on your family. With parties and outside activities, it is often difficult to show your property at a moment’s notice. If you truly want to sell, you must be accommodating to the buyer. They are also on a tight time frame.

I love to show properties at this time because everything looks so festive and cheerful, but then again, I love Christmas!

Have a joyous Holiday Season!
