Sometimes Realtors may take for granted that a seller knows all the things to do to prepare for an open house. In the event that sellers don't always know, here are some helpful hints!

1. Lock up cash and valuables.

2. Lock up prescription drugs.

3. Lock up any guns/weapons.

4. Put away any questionable artwork or statuary.

5. Clean the front porch including cob webs, dead or dying plants and welcome mat.

6. Put in fresh deodorizers (linen or vanilla scented).

7. Clean litter box...fresh litter...move to area not so obvious.

8. Clean windows, sliding doors and all mirrors.

9. Freshen mulch in flower beds.

10. In season, freshly mow and edge yard.

11. Dust all furniture.

12. Clean fireplace and glass doors, if any.

13. Freshen patio...sweep, clean, put away any garden tools, reel in the hose.

14. Use covered baskets or under the bed to hide something you have no place to hide.

15. Pick up any loose throw rugs.

16. Be sure there are no electrical cords in walk areas or just hanging around.

17. Clean out the dishwasher.

18. Put a shine all all the floors and appliances.

19. Replace any and all burned out light bulbs.

20. Bathrooms and kitchens should sparkle!

With these tips, your home will look in its best condition for that new buyer!
